Christine Wiederkehr studied film in Lausanne at the ECAL and in Zurich at the ZHdK. Her diploma short film Floh! (English title: Flea!) was highly regarded and received many awards including the German Newcomer Award First Steps in Berlin, the Sponsorship Award of the Zürich University of Art and was short listed for the student Academy Awards (Oscars).

Since then, she has directed numerous high-profile, award-winning campaigns. She is driven to create outstanding films with unforgettable images. Her work is emotionally and aesthetically strong, with a poetic pulse. She was nominated for the Young Director’s Award in Cannes and is a member of the jury for the EDI (official award for Swiss commercial films). 

She has attended masterclasses on dramaturgy, script development and acting with Helen Jacey, Oliver Stone, James V. Hart, Giles Forman, Amanda Brennan, Barbara Fischer and Rob Marchand. 

Christine has received numerous grants and won the “Treatment Award” of the Zurich Film Festival and a scholarship from the SSA (Société des auteurs Suisse). Her most recent project, 7 Times, has won in Dublin Best International Fiction and the Zürich Film Award Best Screenplay. In Collaboration with Pierre Monnard she directed two episodes of Winter Palace, a historical Netflix series in co-production with Swiss television (TSR) and France. It will premier in December 2024. Furthermore she’s developing with co-writer Mona Petri a TV series for Swiss Television (SRF) called EDITA and is working on several scripts for feature films.

Christine Wiederkehr is married to cinematographer Filip Zumbrunn and lives in Zurich with their two grown-up daughters.
